You should re-install previous O.S. Windows 7 is buggy at this time.
If you see no problem upon doing this (re-installation)... then you know the answer

What, Windows vista?. My laptop did not come with a vista disk. When i installed the Windows 7 rc, i noticed Straight away that my laptop was not itself. But i did not leave a partition where i could previously go back to vista. So wht should i do?, should i just not send my laptop away and get it fixed? because it should not be turning itself of and overheating to the point where it needs to turn itself off and scalds my legs!. Thanks for help.

To be frankly honest, it might not be the Windows 7 RC build. Many people have installed this successfully onto their computers/laptops. The only thing i notices after i installed windows 7 about 2-3 weeks after installation, was that my laptop started going slower, gradually more problems occurred. I noticed my laptop started overheating, and just recently i cant even use my laptop because it will it will let me on for like 20 mins, then just cut out on me and wont turn back on for a while & the same thing happens when i get it back on. Now the only option here, i presume is to phone up where i got the laptop ( Curry's ) and ask what action to take? they will probably ask me to send it to HP or something to get it fixed. As i emphasized before, The specs to my computer are fairly satisfying. Thanks.

Try shutting down all disk/system indexing activity.

If your system response times and temp improve, start turning on indexing for one or two directories at a time.

If that doesn't help, you may have a heat-related hardware problem. This problem could be as simple as a dirty fan/heat sink assembly (easy to clean), a cpu/gpu heatsink that just needs to be removed, cleaned, and reinstlled with quality heatsink goop (slightly harder).

Worse case you have a heat/hardware problem that will require the physical replacement of the machine.

But try shutting down indexing and then doing some cleaning and/or re-installation of the heatsink assemblies first.

Chances are you have a heating issue. Even with all the Win 7 bells and whistles turned on the PC should never run like that (overheat and have issues) during normal operation. If you have had the PC for 8 months its still in warranty. Give HP a call and send it in for service. I know other people have had issues with HP repair, but I think that there are plenty more people out there who haven't, plus its under warranty so its free, whereas if you open it up, its going to be a little difficult (all kinds of little screws and connectors) your going to have to buy the thermal paste and put it on right, and most importantly you have just voided your warranty and lost out on getting it fixed for free. HP won't give you a vista disk for free but they will reinstall the original Vista OS at the repair center, bloat-ware and all.
