Hi to all I have two 2" wide vertical stripes on the LCD screen Compaq Presario M2000. I have checked the display cable connectors to systemboard and to lcd both not loose. Can this be a faulty display cable or lcd board.

Use the VGA out and plug it in an external monitor... just to make sure its nothing in the motherboard

sounds like a faulty cable though.. but i could be wrong

Well its good to hear its not the system board

I dont think its the LCD screen itself. Its most likely the cable or maybe the inverter, but theres no way to be sure

Any background on the laptop itself? when did it start happening?

Hi flipfire no background on this I purchased it on Ebay with the faulty screen. I thought the inverter was just for back light. I am new to notebooks.

Youll have to buy a LCD cable and test it out, which is around $20-40. I can see 2 for sale on ebay. Its better than buying a new LCD screen which costs over $100. Yes the inverter is just for the backlight, i just said it cause its usually the culprit for LCD issues, ignore that.

I have a M2000 myself and its quite a sturdy laptop

No it's not the LCD cable, looks like a replacement LCD screen
