    Compaq Presario V2000 Fan Faults

    I have looked at many other forum sites and it seems to be apprent that these compaqs were all defective with fan faults! Does any one else have issues like this with theirs?
    The fan in mine is completley dead. The computer sits on a cooling pad to stop it from automatic shut down due to over heating. It's quite funny, all the reviews said that their problem started right after the warranty period finshed- exactly like me.

    I am currently thinking about selling this for spare parts on eBay and looking at buying an Acer. What are they like? Any good?

    I had such a computer for over 2 years and didn't have any problems. Yet, I can see how the fan can go bad if it was in high usage...simply the grease in it has a useful life. If you open it and try to grease it, it might work. Or you can buy a new fan. It's not a trivial, do-it-any-day thing but the fan can be changed if you want to preserve the laptop.
