    Which one is better for in the long run? What processor is better? Reliability? Hardware quality?

    Compaq with the Sempron, no contest, though its 4200RPM HD is somewhat annoying.

    The Sempron wins hands down against the Celeron. I wouldn't exactly find a 4200 rpm drive crippling, it mainly depends on the things you do. All the notebooks I've ever used have had 4200 rpm drives and I've never complained.
