Hello everyone,
I'm an on-again, off-again poster in these forums. I think they're awesome - they helped me purchase my Sager 5320.Anyway, I have a serious question for any owners of the Presario V3000Z with the AMD Turion X2 processor. My girlfriend just received hers yesterday; it comes with a TON of bloatware, however, so we wanted to reformat it to start fresh. Well, the last HP that I bought came with the recovery CDs, so I just proceeded along and reformatted with the genuine Windows CD she ordered with the lappy. Of course, there's a recovery PARTITION and no CDs, and since we didn't burn them, we got locked out. :-( We got on the horn with tech support, who said that CDs aren't available at this time but might be in the next few days. However, we're stuck with no processor, graphics, or sound chipset support until that day comes. Therefore, here's my question. Will someone with the notebook and the CDs go onto the CDs and find the above-mentioned drivers, zip them up, and send them to me in e-mail? I'm rather broke myself, but I will pay $5 or $10 if you'll take the time to do this. If you're willing and able, hit me with a PM and I'll give you my GMail address - the files shouldn't be terribly huge. I really thank in advance anyone that can help me here.
Sincerely,
Chris

if i had the laptop i would do it for free, but i won't have it until next month
if you still have the recovery partition you can try to boot with partition magic disks and make that partition primary, active and un-hidden... so you can at least use the machine with the drivers it came with
hope it helps! -
Hey there, and thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately, no, I don't have recovery partition anymore - man, and I thought reformatting would be a piece of cake! :-\ If someone who has the discs cannot find the drivers on there, though, I would be more than willing to pay for copies of the actual discs. I feel so badly here; I was the one who initiated the format without thinking about recovery discs. Anyone let me know if you can help me out!

you can find the CPU drivers in AMD's web page. The GPU drivers are available through Nvidia, while the sound card drivers should be the same as the ones for v2000z so I suggest you get those from HP's support page. As long as you are online, you can get anything this laptop needs! Good luck and write back if you need concrete links, I can dig them up when I get freer myself.

I can upload the files to online file host since they are just too big for gmail or any email service. The video drivers are 30MB and the chipset is around the 87MB.
-
Could you seriously do that, miner? In addition to money, I would give you my eternal and undying love.
Do you think you could also find the sound drivers? That would make the machine fully functional, and I would seriously be forever in debt to you.

I'm uploading the 4 drivers in question to my web site, I will leave it there for a couple days. Total is about 100M so it will take a while hour for me to upload. It should be available here in about 1 hour:

Oh...and dont worry about payment, Its free -
No, seriously, are those drivers some HP alchemy? Am I wrong to think one can find the drivers elsewhere or are they so unique that HP's disks are a must?
-
ok. the mentioned link is up.
With miner and other V3000z users here, you should be taken care of. -
Did you get the files?? I did upload it and the site should have emailed you the link to download. If not let me know I will try again or you can download from the link provided by tti.

Everyone, especially miner and tti,
I really do want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Most of the laptop is up and working again - the sound doesn't want to cooperate and, of course, QuickPlay is currently disabled, but both of the cores of the processor are functional and the resolution is FINALLY native again.
To vassil, most of it isn't HP's special brew (I don't think), but the chipset drivers are. I couldn't find them, anyway, and they were stopping the second core from being able to work.
miner, I didn't get the e-mail from yousendit yet, but I'll continue to monitor my e-mail. I did download from tti, but since the sound doesn't work, I'll wait a while longer for that e-mail and try yours. If it doesn't come through, it's cool, though. The main problems are definitely solved, and I've already burned the drivers to a CD.
Thanks again, everyone! I really can't express how much I appreciate the help and work from all of you.

This should work...

miner,
That worked PERFECTLY - man, I seriously cannot provide enough thanks. You and everyone else are good people.
One other question, though - can QuickPlay be found on the Recovery CDs, or can it not be installed separately? In either case, it's a non-essential feature that can wait until we can get HP to send us new Recovery CDs. Also, are the QuickLaunch buttons and 6-in-1 card reader drivers on the CD? Once again, non-essential features that can definitely wait, but my girl is curious as to what else we'll be able to install.
Thanks again, everyone!

I would expect all the drivers should be in the recovery disc. Some should be available pretty soon on HP's website as well in the same way they did in the past.
QuickPlay should be in the recovery disc's. But might have trouble getting the directplay(QP without booting into Windows) feature to work. Other than that QP works fine. -
Thanks... I, too, wiped my harddrive and now have no "repair" disks...
I have made great use of your 100MB drivers file (Thank you very much!) bu tI still have 3 yellow dots with exclamation points in my Device manager... all saying Base System Device...
Does anyone have any ideas on these? -
Get the media card reader drivers from the HP drivers site
