So, I got my new Compaq V6000 lappie couple of weeks ago.

I decided to clean install XP pro on to it...(before ever visiting this forum).
I formatted the HD, and installed windows. Then installed the drivers, I had previously downloaded from HP site...(the original Swsetup folder was deleted during formatting HD).

Everything seemed to be working quite allright. Then I found my way to this forum, and to the clean-installing HP/compaq notebooks -threads/guides. After reading those guides I started having second thoughts....is my HW installation/performance anywhere near where it should be??!! Especially the SATA HDD??

What kind of data transfer rates should a laptop SATA HDD have??

So my question is: do I have to start all over with a new clean install of XP and follow the quide??

BTW, For some reason my BIOS doesn't have any options to disable/enable SATA....as that guide referred to. Should it??
