I am new to this forum but i have been a member of Brighthand for the longest time I dont know how much that counts here but yeah. So I bought a Presario c551nr from Best-Buy for $360... good deal for me because I was really just looking for a starter notebook. The notebook came with Vista Basic... I upgraded to ultimate. I want to now upgrade to XP but i tried it and i can not find drivrs to make it happen... hp's site has drivers that are supose to work with XP but non of them actualy worked so now i am looking to see if anyone else has had the same problem here... i have googled this for the last couple days without any luck. i am mostly concerned with the Wireless driver... i did get it to show up in the hardware manager... but it says it cannot work because the driver may be corrupt or missing (code 38).
well just looking to see if i can get any help!
Thank you much!

brianstretch Notebook Virtuoso
Find the newest Broadcom WiFi WinXP drivers from a similar HP or Compaq notebook. I'm pretty sure Broadcom has one of those nice unified installers that'll figure out what you have and install the right driver.

thank you... I got it all up and running with XP... everything working except sound at the moment... need to get that working but as long as i have everything else going i am happy... The Presario c551nr is a great computer... just needs to be shipped with XP not Vista... i dont see why HP would do that... it just cant handle vista at all... they should at least have the right drivers on there site so people can easly go back to xp if they would like to... took me almost 2 weeks because i could not find drivers
