    Anyone know anything about this laptop. Office Depot has a great deal on it at 699.00 after rebates. How does Compaq stack up against Toshiba?

    Hmm... Celeron processor, shared memory video, 256MB RAM... if you want to inflict pain on someone it's a good choice. I recommend spending a few $hundred more for a better configuration (512MB RAM, Athlon or Pentium-M CPU, dedicated video chip).

    These days I'd give Compaq and HP a slight edge over Toshiba but none of the big manufacturers really stand out.
