Hello Compaq devoted fans !
I was one of them until the flickering of the screen on my previous laptop, R3320CA forced me to give up on it. I start to miss it. Presently I have Toshiba M40. The battery on this centrino based unit is pretty bad. I cannot watch even one full movie on it, where on R3320CA I could watch two whole movies. I still have few days to return my second M40 (wireless stopped working on the first one). I think more and more about Compaq R3470US especially since the price drop of 300CDN recently. The only down side of Compaq laptops I can see is pretty weak video card. Do you guys agree with me here?
I think the AMD is very good processor - especially multitasking. Why there are so few AMD based laptops on the market. My pentium M seems to be a little bit slower then AMD64 3000+ I had. The case of R3000's seems to be way better built and solid than M40. The R3000 was very quiet. The Pentium M does not generate that much heat but it is generating more than AMD64.
What can you tell me about R3470US? What are your comments? How is it for gaming, graphics, video editing etc. ? Do you guys think that having 64bit processor is going to make a difference in the near future? Do you really think that Nvidia 440 GO is a pretty weak video card for AMD64 3400+ ? I count on you guys here, thanks.

If you are willing to wait then for some time then HP is going to introduce the replacements for the R3000 series...

The specs on the R3470US look good.. Playing games on the Geforce440 is possible but it wont be at the highest settings or quality.
Win XP 64 is due to be released in April...so wont be mainstream right now but will caatch up in a few years.
It is a very nice computer, if you are going to be gaming then look for something else otherwise for occasional gaming it will handle it well.
