So this is not a question, i know how to ask properly. So please bare with me, if it's confusing. I have a Compaq R4000 notebook purchased brand new from a Future Shop with a few general upgrades. i.e. video card, HD. I've bought this roughly over a year ago. Now i've always noticed that in my control panel there are options for changing the settings for quick launch buttons. Ok fine, this is normal, i open it up, and there's four different buttons under the media tab; Media, Picture, DVD, Music. For each one, there is a pull down screen and it allows me to choose the application to run or, could add a custom through a button. Fine and dandy, this works. Now the question is, where are these quick launch buttons?? I know this sounds....assinine, but i ask. where are these buttons? Are they actual individual buttons hardwired into the laptop somewhere along the top? There's the wireless button to instantly kill the wireless, the power button, and the three volume buttons. (up, down, mute) other than that, i'll be damned if i can find extra buttons. (lol) i do consider myself an intelligent man, so asking this makes me feel rather stupid. Or are they secondary function buttons on my keyboard? Although i've looked, and i can't find anything that corresponds with what i've found in my control panel. I've always just brushed it off, but i've been changing lots of settings in my control panel, and i keep runing into this. So if anyone could help me that would be great.
again, its an HP Compaq R4000 series. technically like...R4225CA, but the sticker on the front says R4000. it's the widescreen 15.4, AMD 64 Athlon.
again, if anyone could help me out, that would be much appreciated. thanks.

Obviously if ya cant find them somewhere on the top near the keyboard then I would assume there is no quicklaunch buttons. It maybe that another version of this laptop had them but that your version doesnt. Its the same as my dv9000t, it came with Lightscribe software and a getting started menu for it but my drive doesnt support Lightscribe!

Same with my dv2000, as well as Bluetooth. My system doesn't have a Bluetooth module, but there's still the drivers in the SWsetup for one.

    ;)

you know what, come to think of it all, of the above i've noticed on mine as well. thanks for sharing. i just wanted to know if maybe i got the wording wrong on what a quick launch button is. but yeah, i guess so.
but same for what both of you have said. I have settings bluetooth which don't exist on my notebook, and lightscribe for the dvd burner.
but overall, i am happy with my notebook.
    thanks again guys.

The volume and wireless switch would be your quick launch buttons.
I also have an R4000, the control panel applet is just something that is installed with the quick launch drivers. all those other options refer to different machines.
