The bottom left and right hand corners of my V2404US seems a little smokey. Is this a normal issue for notebooks or Compaqs in general? Or is this some sort of defect that I should bring up to Compaq so that they can fix it.

The problem isnt that bad, but it is noticable in notepad since the background is solid white. But in nearly every other application I cant notice the problem.

    Thanks

uneven backlighting is a common problem for all notebooks, although some brands of LCD (not necessarily the notebook brand!) seem to have it more than others. If it is a visible problem, though, you should be able to get it fixed. Call HP tech support (don't do the online chat) and tell them about the problem. They'll probably send FedEx by your house to pick it up the next day.
