Why did you choose the V2000 over the DV1000? That model has the QuickPlay feature, plus the media buttons above the keyboard and an option for the remote. Well, maybe you liked the color and look of the V2000 more. But could you tell me why you chose that over the DV1000?

And do you have the BrightView screen or non Brightview? That 12 cell battery will be very good, you'll get around 6-7 hours battery life easy. Overall, I think you made a very good purchase and I hope you enjoy it! [ :)]

    Hi Rahul,
I did not like the looks of the dv1000,the black trim looked cheap and the buttons appeared tacky.Watching dvd is not a big pastime for me nor is music on the laptop.I liked the apple type looks of the v2000 over the tacky black trim of the dv1000.I did not like the very reflective brightview screen, again as I am not into watching dvds on a laptop. The 12 cell battery gives 8 hrs non-stop without wi-fi and 6 hours with wi-fi.Broadcom WLAN does not get weaker on the battery and I am able to lock onto my neighbhours networks 200 feet away through half a dozen walls !!
My only regret is I should have gone for a 5400 rpm HDD,but anyway I can upgrade it to a 7200 rpm HD later on.

The best site for this platform is www.dv1000forums.com when I owned the DV 1000.

If I had purchase one again, I would have bought the V2000 for the more durable exterior.

I currently hibernate my computer with Power DVD running which obviates the need for Quickplay that the HP DV1000 offers. Just a bunch of hype for me.
