What is the highest processor the V2000 intel motherboard can take, i was just reading its manual and it says it can only take up to 1.7Ghz but i just went this website http://www.ambry.com/compaq/notebook/presario_v2000.asp and it can take up to 2.1Ghz, So which one is true. How much can the intel motherboard take?

Looks like it has 915GM. So 533MHz FSB processors should work. Don't know for sure though. Sorry I can't find anything more definite.

Check the maintenance and service manual for your computer (available from HP's website under support and troubleshooting). The manual will have parts listings for your computer. Look at the motherboard for the part number, then check the processors listed for the fastest one compatible with your motherboard.

You can probably get faster than 1.7GHz. I replaced the original 1.4GHz Celeron M in my DV1000 with a 1.8GHz Pentium M 750, and I believe the V2000 was the Compaq version of the DV1000. I could have gone with an even faster CPU (up to 2.13GHz is listed in the maintenance and service manual for mine), but I found that beyond 1.8GHz the price increases quite steeply. You don't have to buy the Compaq part, just make sure you get the correct Intel part number.
