PC magazine did a review on the V2000 with AMD Turion. And it said they are now shipping. HP website shows no such thing. Does anyone know if this is true?

The L2000 Special Edition, which is more or less the same thing in Lance Armstrong colors, is launched tomorrow. There's a decent chance they'll launch the V2000 tomorrow too.

PCMag's review doesn't do the machine justice. Its ATI GPU is way, WAY better than the Intel GPU in the dv1000, never mind the 64-bit Turion CPU and lower price.

Its not uploaded onto HP's website yet, but some retailers who allow custom build have already listed it on their websites...

But the Turion version of the V2000 gets worse battery life than the Pentium M version.

Actually it is comparable for the 35W ML version, you'll most probably get around 15 min - 1/2 an hour more with the Pentium M.

The Sempron might actually be a better option than the Turion if battery life is very important. HP uses the 25W LV Semprons. So battery life may be comparable with the P-M's. The Sempron 3000+ is quite close to the performance of 1.5GHz Pentium M & for normal usage it shouldnt be any problems.

And in average use rather than maxed-out-CPU use that gap will be a lot smaller (if it's there at all), existing largely because HP used a 6 cell battery with slightly less capacity in the Turion models than in the Pentium M models for some strange reason (the 12 cell battery gets much more than twice the battery life of the 6), at least according to that PCMag review. I wonder if the 12 cell sticks out of the case a bit like the dv1000 12 cell does (IIRC)?
