Compaq V2000Z users... what kind of temp readings are you getting? My specs are in my signature. My CPU hovers around the mid 40s celsius... it used to be in the low 50s before I bought a notebook cooler. My hard drive stays in the low 40s.

    w/o cooler, my CPU stays at 51-55c, hd(5400) ~50,
when doing cpu intensive work, CPU can reach 62,

Any idea to make the back panel heat to the upside to warm my coffee?

So I guess my temps are pretty average. I don't think my CPU has ever gone past 57C... though I've only had the notebook for a week and haven't done much other than doing email and surfing the internet.

Typical browsing temp remaining in upper 40s, typically below 50( some times 52).
When loaded either at full speed or low speed, temp goes to 55C and fan starts. In few seconds in drops to 50, then fan stop. This cycle goes on in 30 second interval at full load at full speed(Prime95). Never exceeded 55C after I started UNDERVOLTING. Check these threads.

BTW before UNDERVOLTING my temps were around Maxed at 59C and fan ran little longer.

Anyways this depends on Room temp a lot. My room temps are around 72F.
    My Config ML-37 512MB DDR333.

I think, in typical scenario ML-37 has an advantage, as it has more intermediate steps, and these steps consume less power than Lowend processors at that speed.

Like for ex: ML-37 consumes 35Watts at 2000Mhz, but only consumes 24.9W at 1600Mhz. So when processor speed jumps from 800 to 1600 based on demand ML-28/30 consumes 32 watts where as ML-37 consumes only 24.9 watts.

HDD temp I did not monitor recently, but I remember it was around 44-45C.

I think you can just keep that on left palm area(above the HDD compartment).
That should keep your coffee warm!!

BTW what kind of cooler you bought? Is it really good? How much and where you bought it? I am also thinking about it.

VANTEC LapCool2 Notebook Cooler Model LPC-301

It's a bit small for my notebook, but it doesn't slip and slide, considering that I've got the 12 cell battery. I still haven't run my notebook off the battery (I only use it at work), so I have no idea how much power it drains.

The Antec ones look nicer... but too late... I already got mine and I'm not about to go out and get another one.
