For some reason last week I had to restart my computer for an AVG Update, and, well, it never came back on. Every time it was about to get past the Windows XP page (the one with the loading thing on it), a blue screen flashed on the screen for a nanosecond and then it went to the options page (safe mode, sf w/networking, etc, etc.) No matter which option I chose, it goes through that whole cycle again.
Then I was told my hard drive was shot so I bought a new one and had to reinstall XP Home Edition (old 2002 edition from older PC) and the install went smoothly. However, now I -
-Can't connect to my home network (it says the internal network adapter is enabled, but I don't know where to go to pick a network to connect to. It used to just connect but itself.)
-Can't control sound. (I have sound, but when I go to the Sound and Audio devices folder or whatever it's called, it says there's no audio device. I also can't use the volume buttons on the outside of the laptop. And there is no volume folder in the control panel.
-When I go into the device manager, it lists PCI Device, PCI Device, and Unknown Device, that are still on there, or it can't find them or something.
So, has anyone ever had to replace the hard drive on their v3000 and has to reinstall windows? How do I deal with this???
Thanks!!
