I just recieved my v3000z a few days ago and at first I didn't notice this problem but now it's annoying me. The keyboard seems to be slightly bent or something because the right side of the spacebar and the adjacent Alt key are both slightly higher than the rest of the keyboard. From the front, you can see the key mechanism, etc, it's about 1.5mm higher. Am I just being OCD or would this be signs of a defective keyboard and I should initiate a repair? Thanks

if it bothers you get it fixed. they'll ship it back free of charge, fix it, then send it back. usually next day deliveries.

Well, if you are unhappy with it, then just return it. The laptop is not waterproof, so you will see a bit of the interiors of the laptop and at this price range it is quite common. But if the keyboard just looks akward or is hard to type on, then there is no point in using it. If you do want to keep it, then use it for a year or so until the warranty runs out and then replace the keyboard.

I have a V3019US with a perfectly normal keyboard, think you should send it back.

Good news regarding HP support. So after a 15 min chat with support online, the tech agent ordered me a repair on my new machine for the keyboard issue. She said 1 day delivery for the box, 1 day back to HP and then 3-5 for repair. I received the box the next afternoon and since I had the laptop on me, I just filled out the simple form and packed it up. Dropped it off at the local FedEx Kinko's and off it went. FedEx reported delivery the next day and then a return tracking number that same night. I just recieved it back this morning before noon in great condition with the entire keyboard replaced. So in total, less than 48 hours for a repair and return. Very impressed.
