It should make a fine system although you might want to upgrade the RAM to 2GB if you want to use Vista. My V3019us has the same specifications of that notebook except mine shipped with XP. Its pretty robust notebook for the price - no squeaks, rattles to speak of after a year of use. It isnt the coolest nor the quiestest notebook but its not too bad in my opinion. The imprint finish resists scratching from minor scraps and doesnt lose its color unlike the regular paint finish. Expect the battery life to be poor battery life under Vista considering it uses a bit more resources and is hampered by poor drivers(Nvidia still doesnt support Powermizer for Vista).
Compaq V3231AU - any experience
