My new Compaq V6137US seems to ignore any Power control panel settings; it just stays running all of the time when plugged in with the display on regardless of what I set the power settings to be. If I run the power manager reset program from HP's website and reboot, those default settings will work, but as soon as a change something in the Power control panel, everything stops working again.

    Has anyone seen this before?

    Thanks,
    Matt

I found the problem. If my Microsoft wireless notebook mouse is plugged in, it won't sleep or anything. I guess that thing continuously sends activity across USB, making XP think the system isn't ever idle.

    thanks anyway!

    matamoris,

Thanks for posting back the "fix".... So many times a poster will ask a question, ask for help.. end up finding the info /fix they need and then you never hear back from them...
