I will soon receive an HP Compaq V6110us. There is just one question I have about it: does it have the Compaq "digi-code" imprint finish? I have looked up pictures of it all over the internet, and none of them are large enough to see if it has the imprint finish or not. Here is its product page from CompUSA(which has a picture of the HP DV6000, not the V6110us by the way): http://www.compusa.com/products/pro...uct_code=344999&pfp=srch1&tabtype=ts#moreinfo
If any one here owns this model, could you please tell me if it has the imprint finish?
    Thanks in Advance!!

Well, according to the CompUSA description it does, but I disagree. If the specifications are correct, this unit has two USB ports. All V6000 series units with the Imprint Finish have three USB ports.

My guess would be it has the standard (painted) finish.

    R4000-
You were right. It wasn't the imprint finish, it was the painted finish, which is a very nice subtle silver-gray, I might add.

No. The only thing available now are the oem recovery discs for $19 (or make your own). The newest models were shipping with a MS Vista dvd, but apparently they stopped that as well.

    thanks again,R4000.
other questions:how many partitions does it have when out of box and does it
have a recovery partition? If I make an additional partition for my personal files, what will happen after a recovery with the recovery CDs?The addition partition and the recovery partition (if it exists) will be deleted ?
My English is poor,so I am sorry maybe my express is not so clear.

There should be 3 partitions considering that the V6110us ships with Windows XP...
    1. Main Windows partition
    2. Recovery Partition(~8-10GB)
    3. Quickplay Partition(1028MB)

The recovery DVD's will put the system back to factory state - meaning it will delete any partitions you created and recreate the windows, restore & quickplay partitions.

You have to be careful burning the recovery DVD/CDs since they can get easily damage douring the burning process. It happened to me, I did not got any error message during the burining process but for some reason the recovery dvds lack some options and some features that it should have included in the recovery dvd. I was lucky since I called hp and they sent me a new (XP Media Center)set for free. But the ones they sent me are the same as the recovery dvds we have to burn, since the OS is part of the recovery console. Not as the previous years when they used to have the OS and drivers in different cd/dvds.

I know that Toshiba's has a function:recovery of OS partition leaving other partitions intact.
According to you,HP's and Compaq's hasn't the function ,so creating new partitions for personal files is not necessary because the files still will be lost as long as performing recovery and if I buy a compaq's,I have to buy a removable disk for backup of my files in case of doing recovery.
    Is my understanding correct?
Thanks to everyone helped me here.

Well, the recovery DVD does have an option for non-destructive recovery which does not delete your personal files stored under your user profile. I am not certain whether this function would work if the hard drive is further partitioned, but honestly I wouldnt recommend it considering the risks and it is better to burn your data as backup to a CD/DVD or an external drive.

1.how do I know if the set of DVDs created is ok or not?
2.Since OS DVD no longer be provided, can I recover the system only with the recovery DVDs in case of exchanging a new hard disk or formating the original
hard drive completely for some reason?
