Hey guys, new around here, but did some searching and came up somewhat inconclusive. I have a compaq F557(F500 series) notebook that recently when the AC adapter is plugged in, its tough to get the charging blue light to show up. If the adapter is wiggled, fussed with etc. the light will come on and the battery will charge. However, sometimes the slightest bit of moving the laptop will turn off the blue light while the adapter is still plugged in, and doesn't charge.

Here are the possibilities: We have admittedly banged around the AC adapter cable end while moving around the computer quite a few times. If its the solder/charging jack within the notebook, is there a way to test that? Is there a certain amount of wiggle room it should/shouldn't have? What would you all suggest? Also, if it is the computer itself, what does that service normally cost? Also, where is the best place to purchase a new AC adapter?

    Thanks.
