    Compaq nc6000 woes

    Hi there everyone nice to be here, I have recently been given the gift of my dads broken laptop :( (he bought it off ebay no hard drive, battery, optical drive etc).

    Before i invest any further money into the laptop (purchased new battery, compatible mains charger etc) - I just wanted to drop by and have a chat with some nc6000 owners that may have encountered some problems with booting.

    the problem in a nutshell is this.

    orange LED displayed when battery is inserted and operating off mains power, the exact location of the LED is 3rd from the left.

    There is no external display to a working TFT monitor, no fan noise, no POST etc.


    Am I wasting my time ?, is it easily fixed ? etc
