    Hey guys.

I've been to forums all over the planet, and so far I haven't found a single answer to what seems to be a very common problem.

I have a Compaq nc6220 with a Mata UJDA765 DVD/CD player. The problem is, it refuses to read DVDs! It doesn't even recognise them. However, I don't seem to have issues with CDs. I have tried to find a driver for this particular laptop, but there is nothing listed on the HP site (from what I can tell).

Has anyone else come across this, and does anyone have any helpful suggestions?

    Thanks.

    Sarah

Try booting from any dvd, such as OS installation disk or live OS. If that works (dont erase your current system yet :) ) the issue is probably just windows/drivers and sometimes easiest way to fix it is the reinstallation of OS.

If computer wont boot from bootable dvd either, it is quite certain that the drive itself is faulty and should be replaced.

Personally I might test computer with another dvdrw-drive too, but not everyone have them in store like I do :)
