This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     I've been hearing this a lot recently and my mom use to have a Compaq notebook that just suddenly stopped working as well. I think the motherboard was fried or something.

    Well, Compaqs are budget notebooks. They're not going to be as well built as your business notebooks. They cost less. It's a trade-off. As always luck plays a large role.
