Hi I had a faulty power jack on my R3000 I had to jiggle the power cord to start it some times it would shut down and it wouldn't charge the battery. So I replaced the power jack. Now I have power the battery charges ok but that's about it.The hardrive won't boot up and I have a blank screen blank screen I don't know about the number 2 pin(the middle front one) on the power jack it barely came through to the other side of the mobo so it was hard to solder.

I don't understand, why did u go inside the laptop and solder w/e pin u soldered??? did the pins on the mobo break or something?..then maybe u messed something up while soldering on the motherboard. Are any lights appearing on the laptop when u press the power button? And how do u know the batt. charges ok if u can't log onto the computer?

makaveli72 your missing the point I replaced the power jack because it is faulty like I said. All lights are on except the harddrive ofcourse and the battery is charging ok as the battery light at the front was on and went of as it should when it's fully charged and it will run without the power cable as it wouldn't before. It won't boot there is no screen or harddrive working. So I'm asking if anyone knows if the power jack is not replaced right can this happen. To me if the power jack wasn't replaced or soldered right it would shut down. The hardrive is ok I've tested it in another computer and the screen was working before I replaced the power jack so those 2 are not faulty.

I had a similar issue with my r3247. I soldered as best I could with my equipment but eventually had to go to a friend's shop and use his station to do it proper. Problem solved. The trick is getting it hot enough for the solder to flow down into the pcb along all points. Even at 800 degrees it was tough to do lol. I've soldered other jacks onto other boards with no problems but this series (R3000) is rough.
