    Hello Everyone,

I have had my Compaq presario v2000 for about a year now, a today it just suddenly won't turn on, I tried a few things, like change the power supply, remove the battery and try the power supply on its own.

I looked at a few website a they suggested it could be
    a Bad voltage regulator chip
    bad capacitor, bad resistor
bad BGA chip (Ball Grid Array),
    bad diodes,
    bad thermal chip.

But in my case which one could it be to not power the hole thing up, theres no lights, with battery or AC adapter, before i go to the laptop repair shop, i want to be educated on the problem, so that they don't give me some unreasonable price for something i don't need.

    Welcome to NBR, musiqkid. :)

Its difficult to say what the problem. Its likely that its a motherboard problem, as they seem to be the culprit in these sorts of circumstances. Motherboard replacements are very expensive, often 50% or more of the notebook's value itself. If that is the case, then I wouldn't recommend repairing it, but rather considering a new notebook.

If you are under warranty, then Compaq should repair the problem themselves. Before taking it to the shop, check the AC adapter, and that its connected correctly and check the battery and make sure its making a good connection with the corresponding terminals on the notebook.
