I don't know much about computers and would like to know which one would you recommend and why?
I basically would need it to surf the net wireless, and work on mainly with excel, word, powerpoint. And some gaming like counterstrike, age of empires, etc, and to listen to some music and watch a game here and there.
Thanks all for your time and help.

Get the Acer, it will suit your needs better. Even if its $50 more the better specs is worth it

If these are the only two choices you have, then I would suggest the Acer for only one reason. The V30xx series Compaq's have known problems with overheating. Ofcourse HP offered to fix the issues for free but still it is a known issue. Other than that having been using a similar Compaq V3019 for around 2yrs now, I really havent had much to complain. The Acer however wont necessarily have the best built quality, from past experiences Acer seem to use the thinnest plastics possible to build the chassis, the Extensa might be differnet but overall not really impressed with them. Anyways, if these are the only two choices, then the acer is the better deal given the possible problems with the Compaq.
