Since last summer to July 14 this year, everything was working normally on my compaq presario cq50-110us laptop. However the next day July 15 when I turned the computer on there were some minor problems - 10pm July 15 2014 became 10:15pm September 1 2007 for its date and time. I'm trying to fix it when I clicked the change date and time settings, and when that date and time box popped up I clicked change date and time, ten the button turned blue and won't let me change it. Then I also clicked the music button in the start menu. I click any song I want to play and then the media player pops up with the frame and all but I don't see the album cover or whatever and the bar where the track is supposed to play, I don't see it. I don't wanna reset my computer or buy a new laptop. Plus I only got till the 22nd this month to do this since i move in to college for my 2nd yr.
Can y'all please help, thanks y'all very much!

Compaq/HP are pretty reliable. My guess is that you should replace the CMOS battery inside the laptop.(RTC Battery) Looks like a big watch battery.
Here is the link with the instructions:

Hopefully that helps you out, if it doesn't, then you might have a big virus. -
OK I haven't done that yet...
However when I turned my laptop on this morning it did like a system restore then it said it was unable to restore the system, and then when I turned it on after the Compaq screen the screen went black. I don't want to lose any files I have in there, so can you please help?
Thank you!
