Do you guys find that the Compaq has better choices for components even while being cheaper? Better graphics card (ATI vs intel), I prefer athlon as well.

I guess its not much difference, but i really do wish they offered Athlon and ATI for the HP :(

They do, in the form of the L2000 Special Edition. If I were in the market for a thin-and-light that's what I'd buy.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt the HP L2000 basically just the Compaq V2000Z. They both sport an AMD chip and ATI graphics.

I havent priced both identically, but it seems they will be the same price, as the Compaq V2000Z starts at $699

Correct. If you like HP better go with the L2000, if you like Compaq better go with the V2000z. Or buy whichever is cheaper, etc. Same guts either way. Be sure to get the 12 cell battery and Bluetooth options.

Usually Compaq is cheaper but not always.

Well, I think I am still stuck between the HP Dv1000 and the Compaq V2000Z

I like the HP more, but compaq is cheaper and offers AMD (although im not sure which one is better on battery? Pentium M or AMD Turion?

I'm leaning towards just splurging and getting the dv1000

Currently, the Pentium M is still the top in terms of battery conservation. The AMD Turion ML should be second. If you want long battery life, get the Pentium M.

Have you considered the Pentium M version of the V2000?
