Has anyone else found that the touchpad has gotten shiny very quickly, leaving the cursor a little sluggish? I would like to replace the touchpad. Does anyone know if I can order that part separately or do you need to get an entire palm assembly (which I would imagine would be quite expensive.)

You can increase the sensitivity by going to the control panel and mouse properties.

I still think I would like to replace the touchpad. Does anyone know if that can be done alone or does it come attached to the palm assembly. Thanks again.

I think it comes attached with the case, so the whole upper part of the chassis needs to be replaced. I think the part number for the touchpad & case is 373531-001. Do a search at HP Partsurfer for the V2000. They will generally list all the parts available for the laptop.

Thanks so much. It was expensive, as I had expected. I wonder if they would cover it under the warranty. It works, but not like it did when it was new. Any one else noticing the touchpad got shiny pretty quickly. I don't think that would have been a problem with the HP dv1000. That has a nice textured touchpad.

I think I may go ahead and replace the cover. Has anyone opened their v2000. If so, how do I do it. Thanks.

If you do that, you void the wrranty, just a heads up. They probably wouldn't notice though, so the risk is probably minimal. You sure you don't want to try for a replacement first? I bet you could get it.

That's one reason why I like the DV1000 better, the V2000's touchpad is way too slick, I find it hard to move the cursor around.
