Ordered my V2000z on Saturday to take advantage of the $400 in Office Depot rebates. I also was able to use a $40 coupon.

Now, I'm not sure if I should cancel it. AMD just issued a press release today stating that Voodoo would be offering the MT-37 and MT-40 processors. Granted, I'm not spending over $2000 for a Voodoo notebook, but perhaps the MT processors will start finding their way in other brands as well.

I am kind of bummed about the fact that I'm buying a 5.4lb notebook that weighs over 6lb with a 12 cell battery needed to give it any decent battery life. I guess I could also buy a 6 cell as well just to use around the house or when I now I'll be plugging it in.

Is it worth waiting for the MT processors?

How long are you willing to wait? It could be months before the MT40's are widely available in North America (besides expensive specialty vendors like VoodooPC) and HP seems to prefer saving $5 to buy the higher-wattage version of CPUs anyhow (they never offered Mobile-class CPUs on the zv5000z/R3000z series).

I'd prefer to spend the extra money for a MT37 or MT40 too, but given the choice between a ML37 now and a MT40 in who-knows-when, gimme the ML37. The MT series will run significantly cooler under sustained load but in average use it won't make too much of a difference thanks to AMD's power management.

Cool..thanks for the reply. I won't worry about it then and stick with the ML-37.
