    Anyone with Compaq v3000?

I got this situation where by the screen does not light up(no BIOS, no Vista loading screen, screen is black, but pressing Fn f4 gives me the backlight only.)

Connecting to an external monitor works.

I sent it in and the service center changed a motherboard for me, but issue still keeps repreating.

Anyone got any solutions to it?

Send it back in. Sounds like they didnt do such a hot job the first time.

The first time they could not find any problems and they returned it to me.

A few days later, the issue poped out again.

I sent it in the second time, they replaced the motherboard with a dv2000(as stated on the Service Report sheet they gave me.)

And these few days, it appears that the issue is coming back again.

The only "solution" I found was fliping the notebook 360 and let it stay at that position a while and flip it back again, and it worked. Sounds crappy, but so far it worked for me.

Yea. You shouldnt have to jump through hoops just to get your laptop to work properly. I believe HP has a 3 strike rule where if you send it in 3 times, they provide you with a new laptop. You may wanna check with some of the other HPites to confirm this. I have used more HP laptops than any other brand and have only had one repeat failure and it was fixed the second time. At any rate good luck, hopefully you can either get it fixed for good, or get a whole new laptop.

DOOK, that three strike rule is confirmed.

Send it in three times and upon arrival from the third repair contact the following people about your problem.

It doesn't matter where you are from. Where ever you are, there is some type of warranty that covers you. Included in that warranty are the terms for replacements.

My Model - Compaq Presario V3701VU

I am pretty much surprised by this thread that described the symptons of my case. - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01087277&lc=en&cc=us#
    • The external monitor functions but there is no image on the notebook LCD panel.
The above symptons is the exact thing I am facing, but intermittently.

I supposed I got the hardware error fixed since they changed my motherboard[ #3]?

I checked my model page for the BIOS, but there isn't any F.39 but only a F.2B - (I am currently on F.2A)

Should I just update to F.2B or try ways to find F.39?

Try doing everything that you can on your end before having to send it in for repair.
