The exact model is Compaq 3918LA. The problem is that the sound card will transmit sound from whatever I'm doing on my computer while I'm on Skype calls.

For example: While mantaining a call on Skype I go and watch a video on YouTube. The person I'm talking to will hear the sounds produced by the video.

This is driving me nuts and it makes me wanna toss the laptop out the window.

Is there anything I can do to fix it? Or should I just toss it and get a new one?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Two things. The first is obvious, but still has to be mentioned for the purpose of troubleshooting:

    1. If you're using speakers and a microphone, ensure that you aren't getting feedback from your speakers.

    2. Make sure 'Mixing' is disabled in Volume Control (or an option similar to this). This option mixes the wave audio with the mic input audio, causing sounds generated by your computer to be captured along with your voice.
