    Compaq v5000 HELP ME

    ok so i have this laptop right well it crashed about 2 months ago so what do i do i use the recovery disks that i made from the parttion of the laptop and now I have lost half of my processor speed and half of My ram. What went wrong and how can i get back to full power????

    Full Speed is 1.8 AMD 64 and It is only telling my 750 MHZ

    Memmory is 512MB and it only gives me 312MB

    PLEASE HELP ME I AM SO FRUSTRATED WITH THIS STUPID THING. :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :err:

    we have the same kind of laptop almosed
    basically, it sucks
    im getting an alienware m15x
    my v6000 just got a blue screen for the first time ever..

    Fist off, make sure you read the correct cpu using a real time utility like CPU-Z( www.cpuid.com) or AMD Dashboard. These will let you know the cpu speed instantaneously since you have a mobile cpu which basically downlclocks and runs @~800Mhz when idle or when under light use. The cpu should go back to full power as and when necessary depending on the load on the cpu.

    As far as the memory is concerned, since you have a graphics card which shares memory with the system RAM, so it will eat into your memory. Your graphics card is most likely reserving about 128MB for its own use, thats why you are only seeing 310Mb left. There should be a BIOS option to decrease the amount of memory reserved.

    ok another quuestion for you minner. I have just reinstalled a fresh copy of win xp and all drivers for laptop. It runs a few progams then freezes up on me every time. Mouse still moves around but can not click on anything to open a program. ctl alt del does not work etheir.

    Any suggestions here? If i want to upgrade memory and cpu what do i look for?
