Hi
I've got a Compaq v6204 that came with Vista basic. I want to install XP Pro on it but it wont' see the sata hdd.
Does anyone know what driver it uses, so I d/l one and slipstream it into my xp cd.
Cheers

If its the V6204us AMD model, XP *should* natively recognize the SATA controller.

my copy of xp sp2 vlk must be too old, it doesn't have it.

This is the AMD model, correct?
I would go into the BIOS and just set the hard drive to run in legacy mode so you can install XP. I don't see any SATA drivers listed for either the v6024 or the v6000z (generic). XP is *supposed* to be able to autodetect the nforce SATA controllers used in the AMDs. It is the Intel models where XP needs the drivers for installation.
