Hi! I'm between a Presario R4000 and a Pavilion ZV6000, Could somebody say me is the hardware of these computers the same?, I mean, Do both systems have the same motherboards, GPUs and processors?

I don't know why, but the upgrade from an athlon 3200 to an athlon 4000, in a Presarios are $200 but in a Pavilion are $575.

Is the Pavilion better than the Presario, or both systems are the same but with different cases?

    I really appreciate your help.

Also I use linux. Did somebody run glxgear with a Radeon XPRESS 200M with 128MB? How many fps did you get?

I can only give my humble opinion: I am an AMD fan and I just recently purchased the zv6005us 3200+ AMD 64, 512 Meg RAM, ATI express 200 video with 128 on board, 80gig HD, hi def screen. I play Empire Earth II and it plays great. The AMD processor runs cool. I have yet to hear a fan turn on. I love it. I owned a Compaq 1525us and it was nothing but trouble. I realize they're pretty much the same, I just like HP more. I hope I was some help.

I just got my zv6000 and it is AWESOME. no problems yet at all. my config just for your information:

    processor: 2.2GHz 3500+
    1 gig of ram
    brightview 1200x800
    dvd burner
    wireless w/bluetooth
    12 cell

I have captured video through firewire, used wireless internet all over, gps in the car, edited video stored on a firewire connected hard drive, and watched DVD's.

its been great so far, my only issue really is that the brightview is reflection when there's any light around. Seems like it makes DVDs difficult to watch, movies seem to have a lot of scenes with low lighting or dark backgrounds. the lack of contrast makes it a little dark sometimes. I wonder if there's some kind of filter to place on it to reduce glare when needed???

I'd definitely recommend the computer. Office max has almost the same configuration for 1200 bucks. pretty good deal.

    later, Benji

There are no internal differences between the Presario & the Pavilion. The only differences are cosmetic and the HP has the extra infra red port wich can only be used with the HP remote.

So, they are basically the same laptop in different clothing, price sometimes fluctuates, sometimes the compaq is cheaper & vice versa. I like the compaq design since it is plain and simple with silver interior and the black exterior.

Exc! The presario and pavilion are the same. I don“t need the IR port I prefer a better CPU, and with the discount for students the compaq is very cheap.

I only need to be sure that the Radeon Xpress 200m is well supported in linux.
