Hi. My Pavillion d6000 just died on me and I was choosing between these two. With upgrades the G62T is $869 which is $10 more expensive than the DV6T HOWEVER, the G62T comes with a 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5430 Graphics with 5-in-1 integrated Digital Media Reader. Compared to the DV6T which has the Intel HD Graphics. Is this worth the buy? Are there other components within these series that I don't know about? I've never physically seen the G62T series, but my idea of it is a robust, MBP like feel that doesn't have fingerprints which is a plus. Nobody really talks about this series on this forum. People say it is expesive, but its exactly the same price for the DV6T for the same components.

Please offer some incite. Thank you.

were it me, I'd save a few $$ and get an i3 cpu vs the i5 you selected. The only difference is that an i3 lacks turbo boost.

If you go with an i3 that probably gets you some margin to go with the 320 Gb hdd on the g62t. Nice that the ATi graphics are on 'special' for the G62t this week. Too bad that a higher-res screen isn't available.

You're right. With an i3 it is much cheaper. But do you think that the performance decrease would be significant? I checked:

PassMark Software - CPU Benchmark Charts

And it showed that the i3 is about 30 so ranked lower compared to the i5. Also, that ATI graphics seems to be great. I also question if I can add another card in there if I don't buy a laptop that comes with it already. If I don't buy it, it will have an integrated Intel Graphics card.

The benchmark said that the i3 scored a 2010 ranking 168. While the i5 scored a 2395 ranking 143. That's with the turboboost right? Isn't turboboost just some marketing term that means they made it a bit faster? Is it worth it?

Well, without the promo at Frys, the i5 is +$100 usually.
