Hi everybody. I'm trying to get my HP Tv tuner to work right with my dv7 laptop. Hopefully you guys can give me some insight.

First off, either Quickplay doesn't read the tuner at all, or I'm not setting it up right. In the Quickplay TV area, I get no option to view live tv (although I see the option on the left side) and it merely provides a promotional image to buy the tuner.

For Media Center, it works. However its unbelievably complicated to go through channels. First of all, EVERY SINGLE *point* digital channel (like 4.2, 7.3, 18.2, etc) doesn't come in automatically aside from the .1's. That means I have to manually add every single other channel. Is that normal? Second, all those digital channels are high definition yet they show up in 4:3. Why is that? Third, though this one isn't a big deal, all the channels are listed in the thousands, making it very confusing.

    Any suggestions???

I use my HP TV Tuner all the time and it works very well with the Quickplay 3.2 version but not the newer 3.6 version which seems very buggy.
First off do a plug and play of the card and check the Device Manager in the control panel. It should show up under sound, video and game contolers. I have had some issues with the driver so just uninstall it and reinsert the card again untill it detects it properly.
Quickplay should run a channel scan to set up the channels. If not click on the "i" info/settings and run the scan from there. I don't have many digital stations in my area so I run mine in analog.
What OS are you running? 32 or 64? I've had the opposite reaction with Quickplay and Media Center. The Media Center dosn't play nice with the Tuner Card on mine. Let me know if this helps.
I can direct you to the 3.2 version which isn't as cool looking but works ALOT better!

I believe this is an older version of Quickplay that came with HP's that run XP. I havn't had any luck with that version which I think is 2.3. I will send you a link to get the 3.2.
I also noticed this in the 3.6 version along with other bugs. I was using this in Windows 7 with the drivers installed in compatibility mode.
    Download 3.2 here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3331835&os=2093&lang=en
I have tried many versions on 2 different HP's and the 3.2 is the most stable version I have used. Hope this helps.
