I just called Voodoo and they said they will ship to the UK at launch, subject to shipping costs, at which point I caved and put myself on the list.
Confirmation again in post 89 of official blog:
http://www.thenextbench.com/hpg/board/message?board.id=Notebooks&thread.id=5&page=9
They said I will be contacted at the end of the month and there will be 8or9 configurations to choose from ranging from $2100 to $3500 0r around £1100 to £1800, however this is subject to a possible change. They were more than helpful and I said I needed 2, one for the girlfriend and wasnt a problem.
He said I would be given the option but Im not sure if this will be by email or phone. I am assuming thats what they may release on the 27th on the website teaser. Once ordered he said they would confirm when I would receive it.
Now I have no idea if they will offer colour options besides white and black but if they did. I really like the black with red logo. What would you guys go for?
All in all Im really looking forward to the purchase and I love were Voodoo is going! Hope the info helps UK buyers!!!!!!!
Sorry for opening another thread. I think we need to consolidate all these envy threads into one.

you should also note that you will have to pay about 25-50% in duty when it arrives here almost guaranteed.
-
Yup, you will have to pay the VAT, in order to get one in Europe. The queen has to get her share of your glory.
My buddy bought a desktop from them, and had to pay $1600 in the Vat in order to get it. He was very disappointed when he found this out, and stated he should have bought it in the US and had it shipped to him.

Is it that high! Dammit. Oh well I might try and get it shipped to a friend in the States and he can bring it otherwise I might leave it for the moment. That didnt last long. Thats ridiculous. Thanks for the info.

""The Envy 133 and Omen will be available in the UK (only) end of june, we are currently taking names and contact information from individuals who wish to have the first available systems. Please respond with email, phone number and full name if you would like to ensure receiving a notebook or omen as soon as it is made available for configuration."" -
thats because they do international shipping. so when the system comes out in america, its available everywhere else too.... unless the halt international orders fo a bit so americans can gloat that they had it first like everybody else.

that doesnt make sense as you say. perhaps they mean that they ship to uk and it can be sent wherever from there aka sent over to me in ireland ^_^

Considering VAT is ony 17.5% I cant see why the price would be inflated 25 to 50% ...
When they actually start selling a UK version of this [ie uk power adapter etc] I could easily see the price bumped up 50%. But for simply shipping it to the UK I cant see how they can justify anything more than VAT and shipping costs -

That buddy Ktron is talking about is me, and YES duty is freakin high. Worse is you have no choice, they (courrier) will not deliver unless you pay the duty first. My duty obviously was like 1600 because my product was expensive about 7500 so obviously your duty wont be that high but it will still be a substantial amount so be prepared!

Kaiser, bro... next time, have it sent to me for a month or two...
and i'll ship it to you as if it is personal items... not new items...
i hear Koreans used to import 6 month old cars to Korea to avoid duties... ha ha ha -
(UK) In addition to VAT @ 17.5%, HMRC will also charge you an excise duty and iirc, some handling fee (for the taxes probably) by the postal/courier service.

Hey King thanks! but how would I pay the postage to you? Paypal?

There's no logic to get your computer shipped to someone else in US and then shipped to UK as personal items ! (the package will be checked at customs anyway - because it comes from the US. !) and you will have to pay customs anyway. Also, it's kinda sketchy to trust random people with your stuff.
I would just fly over to New York or Miami (it's a 5 hr flight), get a hotel room for the weekend, order the computer and have it send overnight delivery to the hotel.
When you fly back to UK you just have the laptop in your bag, don't have to pay any customs tax, nothing
... and if customs is $1600, then it's definetely worth going to NY for the weekend...for that kind of money you get a great holliday weekend out of it !
And b/c the dollar is si weak, you get to do some amazingly cheap shopping while you wait for your laptop.
I;ve done something like this a couple of times, b/c I'm from Europe and I go to school in US, believe me it works.
If you're planning on buying a desktop computer, that that might be a little bit more tricky, but I'm sure loading it up with Photoshop etc and pretending to be a graphics designer that went to NY for some artsy stuff might work when you land in UK with a desktop in ur carryon! -
My Mom carries one of the first iMac's as hand luggage..
Confirmed! Envy will ship to the UK at launch.
