    Hi,
I am planning to get a bigger external LCD and am thinking of connecting my DV5-1015TX to it.
Was wondering if I can connect this to any LCD or is there some specific kind of input type (VGA/DVI etc..) that I need to look for?

the DV5-1015TX comes with an HDMI port, just buy an LCD with an HDMI port for best resolution.

Alternatively, you can get a HDMI-DVI connector you will have more monitor choices that way.

    Hi,
The external display I am planning to get supports a resolution of 1680x1050 so will I be able to set this resolution when I connect it to my laptop (the highest res supported on the lappy screen is 1280x800)?

    Ok.
I guess based on this thread this should not be a problem. :)

One question though, before I get this HDMI-DVI cable is there someway I can tell if the HDMI is for output from the lappy and DVI for the input to the LCD? or is this a stupid question?

Thanks. Will check if I have any of those lying around.

The LCD monitor I am planning to get does not have in-built speakers. Will it be a problem if I connect a pair of external speakers through the audio-out headphone jacks at the same time as the HDMI-DVI cable is connected to the LCD?

HDMI male to male will work best.

The LCD monitor does not have HDMI only HDCP over DVI.

@JohnnyT: Thanks for all the help. Will post back when I get the stuff.
