    Hi Guys,

I owned a Compaq V3000 series notebook. Following the guideline on clean installation of OS, I have successfully done it after many tries, especially on the sata drive and conexant audio issues.

    But something made me bewildered.

I was able to surf the internet after installing the broadcom wireless drivers & some configuration done. But the Network connection & Taskbar showed that I was NOT connected at all.

This is really funny...... why this contradiction?! Is there anything that i actually missed out installing? Pls help!

So you are saying that even though Windows claims you aren't connected, you could surf the internet and ping google.com?? That's really weird...I have never had that happen. Oddest part is that it's happening right after a clean install, so there isn't any time for your OS to get messed up...yet...

After clicking on Network COnnection several times, the icon changed to connected. It's like waking the display icon up...sigh..

Oh, so it just needed to refresh its status. That's all.

Not sure how 'clean' your OS install is so I'll ask a stupid question- Are you letting something like intel's little wireless manager run at the same time? If you are, they can interrupt each other and not show the correct status.

I didn't. I have Broadcom wireless card instead. But it doesn't come with any wireless connection manager

frankly speaking, really don't wish to use the restore dvds to fix this wierd problem. I actually installed Boingo wireless client to replace Window's WZC. Surprisingly it worked...for now..
