    Hey guys,

I had a question about this notebook. I have a DV 1000 that i have had for a year. The hard drive was getting messy and I wanted a clean start. It also started to slow down some and the fan would not turn off. I decided to format the hard drive and it worked out fine. But now it is constantly freezing up one me. My wireless connection is not as good as it use to be. It keeps one turning on and off. I have the signal and then I don't. It is really quite annoying. But how come it keeps freezing on me? I installed a HP quickplay and every once in awhile one my way to school. I get this beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, I am sure you get the message. I open it up and then the see Quickplay loading, but it never loads, and I push a button and it stops the noise, but nothing ever happened. I am sure this problem is interelated. What should I do? Do I need Quickplay on my computer? How do I get rid of it? Thanks for the help

Did you use the original HP disks to reinstall the laptop?
Run windows update to install the latest drivers for you devices, or go to HP's drviers page to get them.
Is it possible that when you close the lid of the notebook it presses some buttons? Btw, did you do something to the HDD when you did the format? As far as I know, Quickplay is based on a small Linux partition, so that you do not load Windows. It may be that this got messed up.

yes I did partition the HD with a new partition and I really didn't know what I was doing. I like two partitions though. Easy to keep stuff organized.

And yes I did use the installation CD's that came with the laptop.

I am pretty sure that buttons are not pushed when I close the lid. That is my opinion. I am a student and have a backpack so some weight gets pushed on it. All I know is that it is frustrating when I have to restart it so often. It is not the good way. I to hold the button, because it completely freezes. So annoying and not good for the computer.
