Hi all. I am a new member here and this is my first postI have a dv8327us laptop and for some reason I don't have a control panel for my Nvidia Go 7600 video card. When I first installed Vista, Windows update found the drivers for it and it is working fine but no control panel that I can adjust 3D or other settings for my games. Anyone can shed a light on this? Thank you...

Noone here can help me here?!?
-
Just install the drivers from the HP site and see if the control panel shows up. sometimes when installing the driver from microsoft only installs the driver itself and the control panel doesnt come with it.
-
Welcome to the board.
Sideswipe has it right. Install the HP driver to get the control panel. Then update to a newer driver if you want, using Windows Update. The control panel wil remain. -
Ok. So should i uninstall the windows driver first? Be cause that's what i have now. And then install the driver from the Hp site? And also are guys positive that the HP one comes with the control panel? Thanks alot again...
-
douglaz -- You shouldn't need to uninstall your current driver. And the HP one definitely has the control panel. Just download, and sun the .exe and you should get a control panel when it's done. It's likely an old driver, though, so you'll want to update it back to the Windows Update driver, but the control panel should still work fine.

Ok great. I'll try it. And one last question. When i put my model number dv8327us in it gives me the Graphics card driver and also some kind of chipset(Intel i believe) driver. Should i install that also along with the Nvidia driver?
-
The Intel chipset driver is really optional, under Vista. I installed it. It didn't hurt anything. Not that important though.
-
Thanks for all the information JadedRaverLA.
-
if its in the same category as the nvidia driver in the HP site, then thats the Intel GMA driver I believe. its for those laptop versions with the integrated Intel graphics chip, ya dont need it if u have an nvidia card

It's so wierd that altough i have Nvidia Go 7600 in my´laptop, the HP website gives me 7400 drivers when i put in my model number! What's up with that?
-
According to the HP spec page for that model, it uses a GeForce Go 7400. See here.
Edit: Unless I'm mistaken, the dv8000t series only had the option for the Go 7400. Then, when they updated to the dv9000t series, they added the Go 7600 graphics choice. -
Yes in the specs it says 7400 but I have 7600 on the laptop. That's what I find amazing. So you think it would be fine if I go ahead and install the 7400 drivers? Because it gives me the 7400 drivers when I put in my model number! Wierd...
-
The driver has both G72 (Go 7400) and G73 (Go 7600) parts listed in its .inf, so, either way, you should be fine.
-
All right JadedRaverLA. I downloaded and installed it. Now I have the control panel. Thank you very much
-
nope the dv8000t's I have seen here in dubai have go7600's in them, so at some point they upgraded them perhaps.
-
SideSwipe -- yeah, they must have silently updated the graphics chip at some point. The driver they provide has Hardware IDs for both 7400 and 7600 parts. Odd that they don't mention that in the specs screens.

Guys anyone know why I can see the control panle and make changes in it but it seems like it doesn't work for my games. Although I make changes in the control panel, when I launch the game I don't see any difference. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
-
what do u mean no difference? its not like vista control panels have any real options for games AFAIK
-
No I should have said Nvidia control panel. Even when I set the settings for a specific game and save it like that, the next time I open the Nvidia contol panel, the settings are gone for that game... So basically the thing i am trying to say is for some reason the game doesn't recognize the Nvidia control panel!
-
JadedRaverLA i remember i read in one of your post that i can download drivers from laptop2go.com. Do those drivers come with a working Nvidia Control Panel? Or anyone else who knows about this? Thanks
-
I personally think that the control panel sucks, I want the old Xp style back.
-
I didn't like it either plus it doesn't have any effects on the games. I just looked and it also says there is a compatibilty problem and it can't find a solution. So anyone can anyone tell me if i download the drivers from laptop2go.com, will I have a working Nvidia control panel? Please.
-
I'm having problems with not even seeing any resolution changes available. The Control Panel is visible but empty. There are no controls in the box.
I was told the driver was put out before it was ready, which is very lame, but I guess I have to wait until the new one is posted.
Has anyone else had this issue? -
Ok. Here is what I found. Copied and pasted from the Nvidia's own website...
Windows Vista Limitations
These are behaviors that may be different from Windows XP and are related directly to the Windows Vista operating system.
Selecting Vertical Sync (vsync) from the NVIDIA Control Panel does not affect DirectX applications.
Due to architectural changes in the new Windows Vista Window Display Driver Model (WDDM), the graphics driver can no longer disable vsync from its own driver or Control Panel. Selecting this option from the NVIDIA Control Panel will have no affect on DirectX applications. For applications that use DirectX on Vista, use the vertical sync setting within the application. However, the NVIDIA Control Panel vertical sync option does still work on OpenGL applications. We are adjusting the help text in the NVIDIA Control Panel to make this clearer to our customers.

Fingers crossed. Hope it will be fixed soon -
Update: Nvidia fixed the Vsync issue with 3D applications with this new 158.18 drivers but can anyone confirm if it works for the laptops also? Thanks...
