You would be better off, IMO, using a MadCatz SSF4 xBox 360 gaming pad or Tournament Edition arcade controller. PC support for those controllers is almost a "given". It can also be done with via the PS3 versions (as stated above) of those same controllers, however not if the mainboard has an nVidia-based chipset (which is a mute point for the dv6tqe).

I use an xbox 360 wired controller connected via USB. Microsoft has drivers for download on their website. It's a great controller and probably the most universally supported controller for pc games.

I posted this in gaming when someone asked. I prefer motionjoy, especially with Bluetooth built in...

And it is a blast that when I turn on the PS3 controller it automatically connects to my Laptop everytime. Just like on the PS3 (once it's synced though).

Ok so i downloaded the correct drivers but every time I try and run them it says that "DS3 Tools is running" and that it needs to stop before I can run the drivers. But I tried to uninstall DS3 Tool but its not listed when i try ton unistiall apps. And DS3 is not open in a window.

    What should i do?

Ok well something is seriously messed up with my computer and trying to get a ps3 controller to work because everytime i try to go thorugh the steps to install everything it keeps saying the DS3 Tools is running and Ive tried uninstalling all the drivers and ds3 but no luck.

If anyone can help thatd be great. If not, is there a controller that I can buy that is super cheap and easy to intall via bluetooth?

    Thanks

No such thing as an easy to install cheap BT controller.

There is easy to install expensive ones and hard to install cheap ones :D

The only good ones are the wiimote and PS3 controller though.

So would it be easier to just buy an xbox controller and hook it up to my dv6t with the usb cable? That would work better than a controller specifically built for a pc use?.......weird.

    Thanks

You can buy wired 360 controllers, which are simply plug and play. Same goes for the wireless version, however you need the correct receiver. This pack includes both the controller and receiver.

If you prefer the look and layout of the PS3 controller, I would highly recommend the Logitech F510. It has a switch that allows you to switch between X-Input and DirectInput. The former "tricks" Windows into seeing the pad as a 360 controller. The latter is for older games, allowing you to assign the triggers as buttons, which is something you can't do with the 360 controller without hacked drivers.
