Ok, I have to say I am just not impressed with Vista :( . So I want to convert my laptop to XP. Problem is this came with Vista and so I don't have the drivers and such for the network card, video, etc for XP. Looked all over HP site with no luck. anyone have XP drivers for this thing or know where I can get them. I already have WinXP, just need drivers for teh laptop.

    thanks

I tried this last night using a combination of the DV8000 and DV2000 XP reinstallation guides shown in the sticky threads above.

I still have a couple of issues to sort out - I disabled the SATA native support in the bios (rather than slipstreaming), but don't have all the HDD drivers to allow me to re-enable it - if I do re-enable it, I get the blue screen issue.

The majority of the drivers (if not all) are on the HP website under DV6000 (or DV8000, DV9000).

I still have two unrecognised devices that I need to figure out, and the battery meter isn't working.

I'll update when I have success.

The HP dv6233se is just a pre-configured version of the dv6000z, so you can download the Windows XP drivers from the dv6000z's download section...

Previous poster gave you the link for most of the drivers/apps. If you want to reinstall Quickplay Direct, you'll need someone, like myself, to upload a copy along with Quickplay for Windows. Let me know.

    hi everyone~ hi darkknight~ ^^~

i also just bought the hp pavilion dv6233se, and i also reinstall it with windows xp because i detest vista. now i'm in the same sitatuion as darkknight. with windows xp, i don't have any drivers for the notebook, so the notebook basically cannot run - it has no volume control, its wireless lan adapter isn't picked up by the device manager, so that i cannot connect to the internet. let's say, the laptop just doesn't function. x__x!!!!

ne ne~ darkknight, does that work?

well, i will try with miner's advice and use the dv6000z's drivers and see if it'll work. oh man, this thing is giving me a big headache. whines a bit: it is so wrong that i remove vista to xp, but it is also so wrong to keep vista, 'cause for me, i have 3 most important paid programs for the laptop, VB.net, office, and antivirus, and 2 out of the 3 doesn't work on vista -__-... i really had the urge to smash the laptop into pieces at one point >_<!

in any case, i am so glad to know that i'm not the only one who's in this weird situation ^^~~

Something to keep in mind as miner mentioned above:

Hp divides their products into the Intel, and AMD camps

    dv8000t being the Intel
    dv8000z being the AMD

Same goes for other models, dv6233se=dv6000z

    thanks, miner. ^^

i followed your advice and install all the dv6000z drivers onto my dv6233se with xp.

everything works perfectly~ really perfectly~ as far as i know, all the devices and stuffs on the notebook are now working fine. video, audio, networking, and bus drivers etc. those drivers works for the machine.

i would like to send my greatest appreciation to you, miner. i was crying and screaming with my laptop few days ago, when i installed xp to it and nothing worked, and the stupid hp site doesn't have any drivers for the dv6233se with xp. you saved me~ you're really my savior. thank you very much! really really. thank you!! ^^

I too recently got a DV600Z and was curious as to what the complete process is for backing up Vista (just in case) and installing XP as my OS? I see the link for the drivers from HP, but I'm wondering what the full process is for installing XP. Step by step what am i supposed to do? Is there a tutorial by chance too walk me through the process? Again thank you for any help you may bestow upon me. thanks again.

And I too am a little frustrated with HP's service, and the fact that I'm the customer and I can't even hape XP installed when I buy my laptop from them is beyond bullsh#t.
