Having searched through the forum I have noticed that Zalman laptop coolers seem to be most popular.

I have just one question - for Envy 14, which of the following models did you find the most adequate (size-wise and fan-placement wise)?
    -NC3000U
    -NC2000
    -NC1500
    -NC1000

Thank you a lot for your help!

    Best,
    Theriel

I've only used the NC2000 on my Asus. It does an ok cooling job though lately because of the annoying noise that's recently developed and the fact that the Asus is always on, I've been keeping it off and forgetting to turn it on while gaming.

If the Envy 14 were in the 15"-17" realm, I'd recommend exploring the NZXT LX Cooler. It's expensive and requires a 3rd party AC adapter to get the fans running at full speed.

One other cooler I've used is the Antec cooler which I got free after rebate. It did the job alright considering the price, but ironically it would've been better if I'd allowed my Dell which I was using it on to melt its own GPU which I later found to be defective. The cooler probably delayed its GPU degrading process to the point where the problems were noticeable only after the warranty had expired.

I have the NC1000 which fits perfectly along the tapered bottom of the Envy 14. The larger model could also work if you prefer to have some more of the base visible. I can't say I've noticed much of an improvement in temperature though. Core temperatures seem to be around the same, maybe a degree or two drop. I still keep the cooler on when I'm under heavy load though.

I have the NC1000 as well, it fits the Envy 14 well.
However I didnt notice a big temperature drop. I still keep it on when gaming and I like the slight tilting.

Apparently the Envy 14's design doesnt make coolers very efficient.
I consider my cooler more like a safety net that keeps my laptop in a steady flow of fresh air.
