Understanding the possiblility to switch my T2500 core duo with merom, I was wondering if the socket would also allow me to switch to a Core 2 Duo in about a year or so. The reviews on this processor are stellar. Any ideas?

Hi, your question is a bit confusing. The cpu goes in the socket, so if you can upgrade your t2500 to a merom, then of course the socket will allow you. As long as there is an update for your bios you will be fine

Just to warn you beforehand, getting to the CPU socket is not an easy task in the dv2000 series. You'll most likely have to take apart the notebook.

Merom is the code name for Core 2 Duo. They are the exact same thing. I don't know if you knew this or not, but if you did, sorry!
