I have a dv2000t w/ Core 2 Duo (1.86 Ghz) and I recently tried to play some of Apple's Quicktime HD clips to compare CPU usage w/ my desktop. The movies will play and even though the CPU usage is not 100%, the video will basically stutter from beginning to the end (Fast Food Nation at 720p for example).

I'm suspecting that the video clips are stuttering because the clock throttling function isn't working and keeps the CPU at the lowest 1 Ghz speed. My reasoning behind this is that whenever I change the power state to Always On and then turn on CPU Z, the clock speed will remain at 1 Ghz even though the voltage changes from 0.9 to 1.2.

In contrast, Mobimeter seems to measure temperature correctly but always tells me that my clock speed is at 1.83 Ghz. I've also enabled dual core functionality correctly by following the guideline in the Sager forum. Has anyone had a similar experience like this?

    Thanks in advance.

does the dv2000t have onboard graphics card? thats why. im pretty sure most onboard graphics cards cant handle HD video. the core 2 duo is the best cpu out there, im pretty sure thats not the problem ;)

Onboard graphics aren't the problem unless you have an outdated card. I had an ATI Xpress 200m in my older notebook and would wach 1080 HD films all the time. I would say this:

Try to reinstall your Quicktime, sometimes codecs interfere with one another in a somewhat nasty way which could be the cause of this. Also I would try updating the BIOS if there is an update for your computer. Try upgrading the Nvidia Drivers also as there can be corruption sometimes. All in all I would say that it has less to do with your CPU and more to do with software/drivers ect.

Yeah, your processor is definitely not the bottleneck. My 1.73 Ghz Core Duo does HD Quicktime great.

Thanks for all the responses here. Apparently the newest version of Quicktime (7.1. 3) was the culprit because the frame lag issues disappeared when I reverted to an older version.
