What's going on?
Already went to HP who instructed me to update the bios, perform a power drain
DV6258SE / Vista
Core temp derived from "core temp .95"

A core temp of that high is normal. CPU temp is usually measure in celsius, and anything below 60C is normal operation. 60C = 140F.

front left of PC (top and bottom) get REALLY hot
stuck a digital therm under the PC... it stopped reading at 107 deg F -
Hmm, that sounds odd. Are the fans spinning on the inside?
-
yes... its hotest under the pc in the front left corner

That is probably where the CPU is located. Run this program (CPU-Z), and see if the CPU is clocked correctly. The only two things that I think could cause that kind of problem is no fan activity, or an in-correctly clocked chip. The FSB should be running at 166 MHz for a Core 2 Duo, the CPU multiplier should be in the 10 - 14 range, and the voltage should be about 1.35V. If your not sure of what this means, please post a screen shot of the readout of CPU-Z.

Front left is where the HD is located.

Charr, Thanks for the info... here's the results.

Everything is in order, chip is even downclocked because of your power settings. If it is not a fan problem, I honestly don't know. Check if your vents are clear, and spary some pressurized air in it.
Core temp = 115 deg F and 122 deg F
