    go with the hp nc8430..you may have to wait for resellers to drop it to a lower price however..if 1800 is too much for you

    The nc8430 with the 80GB hard drive costs $150 more then the one with the 100GB hard drive and the specs are identical except that one comes with a single 1024MB DIMM and the other comes with 2x512MB DIMMs lol.

    dv8000t == 17.1" :( and not the build quality of the nc8430

    I'm sure the build quality of the nc8430 is good and it looks like a great business laptop but it's pretty plain looking and not very attractive. The new dv2000t, dv6000t, dv8000t, ect. look much nicer with the HP Imprint Finish.

    Fingerprints easily wipe off. Stock ugliness doesn't.

    The dv9000t has the imprint finish, not the dv8000t.

    IMHO I'd rather have a plain looking business notebook that is durable, lightweight for a 15.4", has lots of features, and a ATI x1600 than a shiny "imprint finish."

    More often than not I'll be looking at the screen and not the lid of a notebook.
